A Metrosexual is a narcissist?
January 8, 2009 by Gabriel Aguilar
One of the accessories, which, I think, none of metrosexuals would open hand is the mirror. I think not only the metrosexual accessory like this we can see some of our faults, or, at worst, we can see that today we wake up bald ... There are so many more stories in which a reflected image, whether or not the mirror, becomes the main background that was impossible to tell here. Just to name a few can remember the famous work of the master of English literature Oscar Wilde, who in his book "The Picture of Dorian Gray" introduces us to a story in which a handsome young man can not stop looking. One day a painter does a "portrait" of him and see themselves as beautiful makes a pact with the devil who (???), ages with time, but Dorian is not the picture. I do not think Gray is one of "our", it was kind of perverse (all brands of crimes and offenses committed by him will appear in the picture) ... But what matters is that this story, some way, brings us to myth Narcissus (hence the name comes narcissistic, which is widely used not only by common sense, but also in the more scientific knowledge).
Narcissus was the son of Liriope, birth mother, through an oracle (predictions that the Greeks used to 'define' the future of the people) warned the mother that Narcissus might never see his own face reflected, if this were to happen it die. With that prevented Liriope Narciso one looked at any surface that could see your face reflected. Our good friend grew up with this mentality and therefore he lived oblivious to anything that might happen around them, even did not care for women who fall in love for him. One day, walking, as usual, found Echo, a nymph was punished by the goddess, seeing the beautiful young Echo fell in love and followed him hidden during his many walks. One day Narcissus discovers she is being followed, Eco, questioned by Narciso replies he is in love with him and his beauty, Narciso mocks his "fan" and she dies taking refuge in a cave (said the myth that anyone who went through there, only heard the rest of the sentence she said that stupid, stupid, tupida, Quick, gone ... and then died poor).
Nemesis, a goddess who saw everything, was very angry with Narcissus and bewitched leading him to a river, the goddess had made him very thirsty and Narciso waters when looking perplexed and died right there, as said the oracle.

I do not consider that a metrosexual is narcissistic in the true sense of the name, I see, yes, our image is a reflection of a care that we have with our own body, in general, I do not see that we are alienated from society, I think many we care about the war in the Middle East. We care about the stock market collapse and the crisis that shakes the world and its economic structure. I do not see, either, an exaggerated egotism that translates into not accept anyone to the point of "love yourself" only to himself .. We are people seeking to be updated informed the world that loves and that he appreciates the beauty, both inside and outside ...
In summary, I think that we are narcissistic and do not want a title like that. I do not think that Narcissus, be a good patron for us ...
