I've been away from the blog for a while, had a serious health problem that I will relate to you now ...
One day I woke up and I look in the mirror I realized that was a huge ball side of the throat, swollen and was not hurt. I went to the doctor the same day, he ordered an ultrasound, but said it was just an infection. I followed his recommendations and made hot compresses, which reduced the swelling and after a few days, everything is back to normal.
I came to see me with two specialists in head and neck surgery at the time, but both told me they did not have to do surgery and reassured me. They asked me to do a hormonal with an endocrinologist every six months and so I did.
Imagine my shock when this year began to feel pain in the neck and right shoulder, which was just a nuisance. Filled me with Gelol, hot compresses and thus improved the symptoms. I thought it was tendinitis, did the tests and gave tendonitis in the arm, but had nothing to do with the pain of the neck! Hence I decided to go back in the head and neck surgeon to redo the tests and it was found that thyroid cancer.
Quickly I underwent a surgery for total removal of the thyroid were almost four hours on the operating table. I stayed only one night in the hospital after high ever had. Doctors do not consider this type of aggressive cancer, to be located in the thyroid, they do his removal in surgery and already solves the problem.
The post - surgery is quiet, which even bother are the pain, it hurts to swallow, it hurts to move my neck, by the way, I neither moved until completing a 4 or 5 days of surgery. Now I'm recovering, as with bathing, washing your hair, eat, lie down and stand alone. In the early days I needed someone's help, but it's then that you realize who your friends are, those linking, send flowers, leave messages, come to visit you. That's the good part !!!
According to the doctor he took everything that was bad, and thank God it was not evil, but the treatment continues with radioiodine therapy that will do only after 30 days past surgery. The radioiodine therapy is simple, you intern in a hospital for 1 or 2 days and give you iodine to take. You are isolated from other patients because of radioactivity, but say it has no color, no smell, it is like water. There is no pain, there hair loss, no major side effects. Some complain that get sick after taking a few days. But if compared to any cancer treatment, it is really chump change.
The next step is to take every six months all again: ultrasound, blood test, PCI and others to make sure everything is.
Noting that men also suffer from thyroid problems, and that is a silent disease, it takes you to discover. So when the doctor ask him to ask for blood tests that measure the T3, T4, and TSH antibodies to make it all right!
Since I started having thyroid problems, many people came to tell me that also suffer from this problem, cancer is not the only disease that can give the thyroid. The imbalance of hormones is painful symptoms such as depression, fatigue, somnolence, tachycardia, discouragement, among others. So stay tuned and take care!
