I've been away from the blog for a while, I had a serious health problem which I will relate to you now ...
One day I woke up and I look in the mirror I realized I had a huge ball beside the throat was swollen and do not hurt. I went to the doctor the same day, he asked for an ultrasound, but said it was just an infection. I followed his recommendations and made hot compresses, which reduced the swelling and after a few days, everything was back to normal.
I got to see two specialists in head and neck surgery at the time, but they both told me that they had to do surgery and reassured me. They asked me to do a follow up with the hormonal endocrinologist every six months and so I did.
Imagine my shock when this year began to feel pain in my neck and right shoulder, which was just a nuisance. It filled me with Gelol, hot compresses and thus improved the symptoms. I thought it was tendonitis, did the tests and gave tendonitis in the arm, but it had nothing to do with the pain the neck! Hence, I decided to return the head and neck surgeon to redo the tests and it was found that thyroid cancer.
Quickly I underwent surgery for total removal of the thyroid, were almost 4 hours on the operating table. Stayed only one night in the hospital after I had already high. The doctors do not consider this type of aggressive cancer, to be located in the thyroid, they make his withdrawal in surgery and already solves the problem.
The post - surgery is quiet, which is not even bother pains, hurts to swallow, it hurts to move my neck, incidentally, I neither moved to complete a 4 or 5 days of surgery. Now I am recovering, now I can take a shower, wash your hair, eating, lying down and standing alone. In the early days needed help from someone, but that's when you realize who your friends are, who call, send flowers, leave messages, come to visit you. That's the good part!!
According to the doctor he took everything that was bad, and thank God it was not malignant, but treatment with radioiodine remains that after 30 days will only last surgery. The radioiodine is simple, you intern in a hospital for 1 or 2 days and give you iodine to take. You are isolated from other patients because of radioactivity, but say it has no color, no smell, is like water. No pain, no hair loss, no major side effects. Some complain that they get sick after taking a few days. But if compared to any cancer treatment, it is even chump change.
The next step is to take every six months all again: ultrasound, blood test, PCI and others to ensure everything is.
Recalling that men also suffer from thyroid problems, and that is a silent disease, takes you to discover. So when the doctor ask him to request blood tests that measure T3, T4, and TSH antibodies to ensure that everything is well!
Since I started having thyroid problems, many people came to tell me who also suffer from this problem, cancer is not the only disease that can make the thyroid. The imbalance of hormones is painful symptoms such as depression, fatigue, somnolence, tachycardia, discouragement, among others. So stay tuned and take care!
