I've been away from the blog for a while, I had a serious health problem that will now report to you ...
One day I woke up and look at myself in the mirror I realized that was a huge ball side of the neck was swollen and hurt not. I went to the doctor on the same day he asked for an ultrasound, but said it was just an infection. I followed his recommendations and made compresses hot water, which reduced the swelling and after a few days, everything was back to normal.
I got to see two specialists in head and neck surgery at the time, but they both told me they did not have to do surgery and reassured me. Asked me to do a hormone with an endocrinologist every six months and so I did.
Imagine my shock when this year began to feel pain in the neck and right shoulder, which was nothing but a nuisance. It filled me with Gelol, compresses of hot water and thus improved the symptoms. I thought it was tendonitis, did the exams and gave tendonitis in the arm, but it had nothing to do with neck pain! Hence, I decided to return the head and neck surgeon to redo the tests and it was found that with thyroid cancer.
Quickly I underwent surgery for total removal of the thyroid, were almost 4 hours on the operating table. I stayed only one night in the hospital after I had already high. Doctors do not consider this type of aggressive cancer, to be located in the thyroid, they make his withdrawal at surgery and longer solves the problem.
The post - operative is quiet, what bothers are the same pains, hurts to swallow, it hurts to move my neck, incidentally, I do not even budge until completing a 4 or 5 days of surgery. Now I am recovering, I can now take a shower, wash my hair, eat, lie down and stand alone. In the early days needed help from someone, but that's when you realize who your friends are, who call, send flowers, leave messages, come visit you. That's the good part!
The doctor said he removed everything that was bad, and thank God it was not malignant, but the treatment continues with radioiodine therapy that will only last 30 days after surgery. The radioiodine therapy is simple, you intern in a hospital for 1 or 2 days and give you iodine to take. You are isolated from other patients because of the radioactivity, but say it has no color, no smell, is like water. No pain, no hair loss, no major side effects. Some complain that get sick after taking a few days. But if compared to any cancer treatment, it is even chump change.
The next step is to take every six months all again: ultrasound, blood test, PCI and others to ensure everything is.
Recalling that men also suffer from thyroid problems, and that is a silent disease, takes you to discover. So when the doctor ask him to request blood tests that measure the T3, T4, and TSH antibodies to ensure that everything is well!
Since I started having thyroid problems, many people came to tell me that also suffer from this problem, cancer is not the only disease that can give the thyroid. The imbalance of hormones is painful symptoms such as depression, fatigue, somnolence, tachycardia, discouragement, among others. So stay tuned and take care!
