I've been away from the blog for a while, I had a serious health problem that I will now relate to you ...
One day I woke up and look at myself in the mirror I realized that was a huge ball side of the neck was swollen and do not hurt. I went to the doctor the same day, he ordered a ultrasound but said it was just an infection. I followed his recommendations and made hot water compresses, which reduced the swelling and after a few days, everything was back to normal.
Came to see me with two experts in head and neck surgery at the time, but they both told me it was not necessary to do surgery and reassured me. Asked me to do a hormonal with an endocrinologist every six months and so I did.
Imagine my shock when this year began to feel pain in the neck and right shoulder, which was nothing but a nuisance. It filled me with Gelol, Hot water compresses and thus improved the symptoms. I thought it was tendonitis, did the exams and gave tendonitis in the arm, but it had nothing to do with neck pain! Hence, I decided to return the head and neck surgeon to redo the tests and it was found that with thyroid cancer.
Quickly I underwent surgery for total removal of the thyroid, were almost four hours on the operating table. Stayed only one night in the hospital after I had already high. Doctors do not consider this type of aggressive cancer, being located in the thyroid, they make his withdrawal at surgery and longer solves the problem.
The post - operative is quiet, what bugs are the same pains, hurts to swallow, it hurts to move my neck, incidentally, I did not even budge until completing a 4 or 5 days of surgery. Now I am recovering, I can already take a shower, wash my hair, eating, lying down and standing alone. In the early days needed help from someone, but that's when you realize who your friends are, who call, send flowers, leave messages, they come to visit you. That's the good part !!!
The doctor said he removed everything that was bad, and thank God it was not malignant, but the treatment continues to radioiodine therapy that will only last 30 days after surgery. The radioiodine is simple, you intern in a hospital for one or two days and give you iodine to take. You are isolated from other patients because of the radioactivity, but say they have no color, no smell, is like water. There is no pain, no hair loss, no major side effects. Some complain that they get sick after taking a few days. But comparing any treatment of cancer, it is even chump change.
The next step is to take every six months all again: ultrasound, blood test, PCI and others to ensure everything is.
Remembering that men also suffer from thyroid problems, and it is a silent disease, it takes you to discover. So when the doctor ask him to request blood tests that measure the T3, T4, and TSH antibodies to ensure that everything is well!
Since I started having thyroid problems, many people came to tell me who also suffer from this problem, cancer is not the only disease that can give the thyroid. The imbalance of hormones is painful cause symptoms like depression, fatigue, somnolence, tachycardia, discouragement, among others. So stay tuned and take care!
